The one the only Shelby's Terlingua Racing Team returns! We at Keith Craft Motorsports have been honored
to be approved by Shelby Inc to reproduce the 1967 Terlingua. It was revealed at the 2007 SEMA show where
Shelby introduced a new 2007 Terlingua and other new products.
The Shelby Terlingua Racing team started as a spoof in a town in southwest Texas. The town was named
Terlingua which means three languages, since it once upon a time inhabited three different Indian tribes: the
Kiowa, the Apaches, and the Comanches. It is now a ghost town and Shelby and his crew always met up
there to have a good time. They started having a chili cook-off there and year by year the event became widely
known. The logo was created using a rabbit since it was one of the few animals who can live in the Big Bend
area. The rabbit is holding up his paw saying "don;t put any more peppers in the chili". There are three Indian
feathers representing the three tribes, and the sun because it gets hot in the summertime. And the 1860 is
per Shelby "the first year the town Terlingua had a race with the ore wagons". The head of Ford Motor
Company asked Shebly to turn the Mustang into a sports car club of America B-production race winner. The
crew and Shelby were thrilled to do it.
For "old school" Terlingua Racing Team fans, Shelby Automobiles and Neale also introduced a 1967
Terlingua continuation model Mustang that was revamped with modern technology. On the exterior, the car
looks like the vintage 1967 Trans Am race car driven by Jerry Titus and Ken Miles; under the sheet metal, it
is serious new age performance. From the authentic paint scheme to the 525 horsepower 408 c.i.d engine,
the car is all business. Only a few of these cars, with a MSRP beginning at approximately $99,500, will be
built annually under contract by Keith Craft Motorsports. Each will receive a Shelby serial number that will be
registered in an official Shelby Automobiles registry.
